About this wine

Domaine Rapet is one of the historic names on the Corton hill, and their Corton Grand Cru 2010 comes from 50-year-old Pinot Noir vines on south-facing parcels such as Les Combes, Les Chaumes and La Voie Rosse. The grapes are hand-harvested in small crates, carefully sorted and fermented in tank with traditional pigeage before ageing in oak barrels, around 20% new. The result is a full-bodied yet finely etched Corton: intense garnet colour, a nose that has evolved from youthful blackcurrant and kirsch into more complex notes of dried cherry, truffle, undergrowth and leather, and a palate that is powerful but now beautifully integrated. This is classic, savoury, old-school Côte de Beaune Grand Cru – perfect for game, slow-cooked meats or aged hard cheeses.

Tasting Note

Deep garnet; the bouquet opens with macerated cherry and blackcurrant, moving into forest floor, dried rose, game and sweet spice. The palate is broad and muscular yet polished, with ripe, grainy tannins, good acidity, layers of dark fruit, spice and earth, and a long, savoury, truffle-tinged finish.

In the glass

Deep, intense garnet with some brick at the rim.

In the nose

Blackcurrant and kirsch layered with undergrowth, truffle, leather and warm spice.

On the palate

Full-bodied and powerful but now velvety, with ripe red and black fruits, earthy complexity and a long, savoury, mineral finish.

Domaine Rapet Père & Fils

Based in Pernand-Vergelesses, Domaine Rapet is one of the historic names around the hill of Corton. They produce both red and white wines with a cool, stony edge that reflects their high, limestone-rich slopes. The style is restrained and gastronomic, with an emphasis on freshness, chalky minerality and age-worthy structure.
