About this wine

R.H. Coutier is one of the historic growers of Ambonnay and was among the earlier estates to establish significant Chardonnay plantings in this predominantly Pinot Noir Grand Cru village. The Blanc de Blancs draws exclusively on Ambonnay Chardonnay and combines a substantial proportion of reserve wine with the current harvest, giving both freshness and additional depth. Partial oak vinification brings gentle texture and complexity without obscuring the fruit, while completed malolactic fermentation softens the naturally chalky structure. The finished Champagne balances ripe yellow fruit and citrus with brioche, a silky mousse and a long, mineral-driven finish, making it equally convincing as an aperitif or alongside shellfish and refined fish dishes.

Tasting Note

Critics describe an elegant and intense nose of yellow fruit, cooked pineapple, citrus zest and subtle brioche, with a silky, fresh palate, persistent fine bubbles and a long, refined finish; the cuvée has also received 93 points from Wine Advocate.

R.H. Coutier

R.H. Coutier is a grower-producer in the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay, working mainly with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from family-owned vineyards. The Champagnes are generous yet finely structured, showing Ambonnay’s natural richness alongside good tension and a clear sense of place. They’re expressive, thoughtfully made wines that comfortably overdeliver for the level.
