About this wine

Donna Rebecca is Ridolfi’s top Brunello selection, sourced from their best Sangiovese parcels around Mercatali and matured longer to emphasise depth and complexity. The 2020 vintage shows a generous, modern Brunello profile: vivid red cherry and plum, hints of candied orange peel, mint and sweet baking spice, layered over subtle oak. The palate is concentrated but finely etched, with silky tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, savoury finish that balances richness with elegance. This is a wine to open for important dinners or to lay down for 10–15 years.

Tasting Note

James Suckling characterises the 2020 Donna Rebecca as a youthful, almost vinous Brunello, with bright ripe-fruit character, floral and spicy nuances, refined tannins and a long, fresh finish.

In the glass

Deep ruby with a luminous core and fine legs.

In the nose

Ripe red cherry and plum, candied orange peel, mint, violet, vanilla and subtle toasted spice.

On the palate

Fuller-bodied Brunello with plush fruit, very fine-grained tannins and a long, vibrant finish showing blood orange, spice and mineral notes.

Ridolfi

Ridolfi is an up-and-coming estate in Montalcino, making detailed, vibrant expressions of Sangiovese from high-altitude vineyards. Their Brunello and single-vine bottlings blend ripe Tuscan fruit with freshness, refined tannins and judicious oak. The style leans toward elegance and clarity rather than sheer power.
