About this wine

Riecine’s annata Chianti Classico is a benchmark cool-climate Sangiovese from organically farmed, high-lying vineyards in Gaiole. Fermentation is spontaneous, often in concrete or open vats, with moderate maceration to favour purity over extraction, and ageing in a mix of concrete, large old casks and sometimes amphora. The wine shows bright ruby colour and an aromatic profile of cherry, sour plum, violet and Tuscan herbs, with a subtle earthy/mineral undertone. On the palate it’s medium-bodied, juicy and linear, with crisp acidity and fine, chalk-dust tannins.
