About this wine

“Vigna Gittori” is Riecine’s top Chianti Classico, elevated to Gran Selezione status and sourced from a historic, high-altitude Sangiovese vineyard. Yields are low, selection is strict, and the wine is fermented with native yeasts before a longer élevage in large casks and fine-grained oak. The 2021 shows dark-toned cherry and black raspberry, violet, blood orange and sweet spice, with an undercurrent of graphite and Tuscan scrub. The palate is medium-plus in body with layered fruit, vibrant acidity and firmly structured but polished tannins, promising long development.

Tasting Note

Critic notes: intense nose of sour cherry, blackberry, violet and sweet spices; mouth-filling yet precise palate with ripe, fine-grained tannins, lively acidity and a long, savoury, mineral finish.

In the glass

Deeper ruby with garnet hints at the rim.

In the nose

Dark cherry and black raspberry, violet, blood orange, subtle vanilla and tobacco, plus stony minerality.

On the palate

Concentrated and structured with layered red/dark fruits, lively acidity and firm but very refined tannins.

Riecine

Riecine is a high-altitude Chianti Classico estate long admired for pure, graceful Sangiovese. Organic farming and a gentle touch in the cellar give wines with bright red fruit, floral tones and fine, persistent tannins. From the Classico to single-vineyard bottlings like Vigna Gittori, the style is refined and vibrant.
