About this wine

Voerzio’s Brunate is one of the benchmark modern-classic Baroli. The 2017 vintage offers subtle aromas of dried strawberry, cedar and flowers, with earth and spice underneath. The palate is full-bodied but extremely focused, with linear, polished tannins and a long, mineral-tinged finish. It’s a racy, driven Barolo that needs time in the cellar to fully unfurl.

Tasting Note

James Suckling calls the 2017 “very subtle” with dried strawberry, cedar and flowers, tight linear tannins and great length.

In the glass

Luminous garnet with medium depth.

In the nose

Dried strawberry, rose, cedar, earth, spice and a hint of stone.

On the palate

Full-bodied yet taut, very fine tannins, great energy and a long, savoury, floral finish.

Roberto Voerzio

Roberto Voerzio is one of Barolo’s most influential modernists, famed for extreme low yields and meticulous vineyard work. The wines are intensely concentrated yet surprisingly refined, with glossy fruit, fine-grained tannins and impressive purity. His Baroli from crus like Brunate, La Serra and Rocche dell’Annunziata have become cult references for opulent, collectible Nebbiolo.
