About this wine

The Fossati vineyard lies in La Morra and is known for wines of depth and perfume. Voerzio’s 2017 shows intense dark berry fruit, roses, spice and balsamic hints. The palate is full and structured, with dense fruit sweetness balanced by fresh acidity and fine but abundant tannins. It’s a striking, age-worthy Barolo that will benefit from decanting or several years in the cellar.

Deep garnet, slightly darker core.

In the nose

Dark cherry, rose, dried flowers, spice and balsamic hints.

On the palate

Full-bodied, concentrated fruit, vibrant acidity and long, firm, finely grained tannins.

Roberto Voerzio

Roberto Voerzio is one of Barolo’s most influential modernists, famed for extreme low yields and meticulous vineyard work. The wines are intensely concentrated yet surprisingly refined, with glossy fruit, fine-grained tannins and impressive purity. His Baroli from crus like Brunate, La Serra and Rocche dell’Annunziata have become cult references for opulent, collectible Nebbiolo.
