About this wine

Corimbo I is the top wine from Bodegas La Horra, Roda’s project in Ribera del Duero, made from 100% Tinta del País from old bush vines (40+ years) around La Horra and Roa at about 800 m altitude. The 2016 shows deep blueberry and black cherry fruit, subtle sweet spice and herbal notes, with oak beautifully in the background. The palate is full but not heavy: juicy, structured and fresh, with depth and a clear sense of place. It’s one of the more elegant, terroir-driven interpretations of Ribera.

Tasting Note

Luis Gutiérrez / WA: intense dark berries and aromatic herbs with spicy, subtle oak; medium-full, concentrated yet fresh, with refined tannins and a long, balanced finish.

In the glass

Deep, bright cherry-red with high colour intensity.

In the nose

Blueberry and black cherry with discreet oak, spice, dried herbs and a touch of earth.

On the palate

Sappy and juicy with plenty of fruit, then more structure and depth on the second sip; fine tannins, good freshness and a long, savoury finish.

Roda

Bodegas Roda in Rioja and its Ribera del Duero arm Corimbo focus on Tempranillo-based wines that are modern yet respectful of terroir. Old vines, precise oak work and a clean, fruit-forward style result in reds that are deep but not heavy. They’re known for clarity of fruit, fine tannins and a savoury, food-friendly profile.
