About this wine

Roda Reserva comes from selected vineyards in Haro and surrounding areas, mainly Tempranillo with a small percentage of Graciano and/or Garnacha, grown on bush vines. Fermented in French oak vats with indigenous yeasts, it is then aged around 14–16 months in French oak barrels (mostly used) and a further 2+ years in bottle before release. The 2021 vintage, from a relatively cool, balanced year, shows vivid red and black fruit, floral and spicy notes, and a fine, chalky backbone. The style is clean, precise and oak-polished without being dominated by wood.

Tasting Note

Wine Advocate describes a medium- to full-bodied Rioja with black cherry and plum fruit, sweet spice, cedar and tobacco notes, lively acidity and firm yet well-integrated tannins leading to a long, savoury finish.

In the glass

Deep ruby with good colour density.

In the nose

Black cherry, plum, redcurrant, sweet baking spice, tobacco leaf, cedar and graphite.

On the palate

Juicy and structured, with ripe dark fruit, spice and cedar nuances, fresh acidity, fine-grained tannins and a long, savoury, slightly earthy finish.

Roda

Bodegas Roda in Rioja and its Ribera del Duero arm Corimbo focus on Tempranillo-based wines that are modern yet respectful of terroir. Old vines, precise oak work and a clean, fruit-forward style result in reds that are deep but not heavy. They’re known for clarity of fruit, fine tannins and a savoury, food-friendly profile.
