About this wine

Soldaat is part of Sadie Family’s Old Vine Series, sourced from very old bush-vine Grenache Noir planted high in the Piekenierskloof. The 2020 vintage offers lifted aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry and cranberry with pomegranate, dried herbs and a gentle peppery spice. On the palate it is medium-bodied, bright and finely etched rather than heavy, with crunchy red fruit, silky tannins and a long, mouth-watering finish that underlines its almost Burgundian finesse.

Sadie Family

Eben Sadie’s wines helped redefine the Swartland, focusing on old vines, dry farming and field blends. His whites and reds are subtle, textural and incredibly detailed, often from forgotten varieties and marginal sites. The philosophy is low-intervention and terroir-first, producing some of the Cape’s most sought-after, nuanced bottles.
