About this wine

Kokerboom is sourced from very old, ungrafted Palomino vines in the remote Skurfberg area, on red and sandstone soils cooled by Atlantic breezes. The 2024 shows the usual mix of citrus peel, hay, chamomile and lanolin over a savoury, almost sherry-adjacent nuttiness, but in a dry, precise frame. The palate is vertical and mouth-coating yet driven by bracing acidity and a salty finish. It’s a gastronomic white that really shines at the table.

Tasting Note

Aromas of lemon pith, dried herbs, rooibos, chamomile and crushed stones lead into a concentrated, waxy palate with savoury depth and a long, saline, lightly bitter finish.

In the glass

Pale straw with golden glints.

In the nose

Lemon peel, hay, dried flowers, lanolin and saline mineral notes.

On the palate

Waxy and textural yet racy; savoury citrus, dried herb complexity and a long, salty, slightly bitter finish.

Sadie Family

Eben Sadie’s wines helped redefine the Swartland, focusing on old vines, dry farming and field blends. His whites and reds are subtle, textural and incredibly detailed, often from forgotten varieties and marginal sites. The philosophy is low-intervention and terroir-first, producing some of the Cape’s most sought-after, nuanced bottles.
