About this wine

Palladius 2023 is crafted from roughly a dozen Mediterranean and Rhône white varieties (including Chenin, Grenache Blanc, Clairette, Verdelho and others) harvested from 17 old vineyards across Swartland. The vintage produced superbly fresh, intense fruit, and the wine combines citrus, stone-fruit, fennel and white flowers with subtle spice and a chalky, sea-spray edge. Texture is generous but never heavy, thanks to vibrant acidity and a very long, savoury finish.

Tasting Note

Very fresh and exciting, with notes of lemon curd, preserved citrus, wild thyme, white pepper and wet stones. The palate is dense yet weightless, with layered orchard fruit, savoury herb complexity and a laser-like, saline, mineral finish.

In the glass

Bright straw with green reflections.

In the nose

Lemon curd, white peach, fennel, wild herbs, crushed shells.

On the palate

Deep and layered; ripe citrus and stone fruit wrapped in chalky grip and mouth-watering, salty acidity.

Sadie Family

Eben Sadie’s wines helped redefine the Swartland, focusing on old vines, dry farming and field blends. His whites and reds are subtle, textural and incredibly detailed, often from forgotten varieties and marginal sites. The philosophy is low-intervention and terroir-first, producing some of the Cape’s most sought-after, nuanced bottles.
