About this wine

Rotsbank is built around old-vine Chenin planted on sandstone and quartz, giving a more lifted, high-toned profile than some of the other Sadie whites. The 2024 shows grapefruit, lemon pith and crunchy pear, interwoven with wild herbs and a dusty, chalky minerality. It’s medium-bodied but very precise, finishing long, savoury and saline.

Tasting Note

Bright citrus and pear with fennel, hay and crushed stone; sleek and driven on the palate with mouth-watering acidity and a tangy, salty finish.

In the glass

Pale lemon.

In the nose

Grapefruit, lemon peel, pear, dried herbs and wet stone.

On the palate

Taut and savoury; citrus and crunchy orchard fruit over a fine, chalky, saline spine.

Sadie Family

Eben Sadie’s wines helped redefine the Swartland, focusing on old vines, dry farming and field blends. His whites and reds are subtle, textural and incredibly detailed, often from forgotten varieties and marginal sites. The philosophy is low-intervention and terroir-first, producing some of the Cape’s most sought-after, nuanced bottles.
