About this wine

The 2019 Sassicaia shows concentrated but pure dark cherry and cassis, cedar, herbs, graphite and earth. Texture is powerful but silky, with exceptional balance between fruit, acidity and tannin. Many tasters compare its character to legendary 1980s vintages, with added modern precision.

Tasting Note

Wine Advocate emphasises its crunchy dark cherry, richness and textural imprint; James Suckling notes exceptional purity of Cabernet fruit, polished tannins and great elegance.

In the glass

Deep ruby-purple, excellent intensity.

In the nose

Blackcurrant, dark cherry, cedar, sage, mint, graphite and subtle tobacco.

On the palate

Full-bodied yet refined, with layered fruit, fine tannins, lively acidity and a very long, elegant finish.

Tenuta San Guido

The birthplace of the Super Tuscan movement. Tenuta San Guido produces Sassicaia, one of Italy’s most important wines: Cabernet Sauvignon shaped by maritime breezes, gravelly soils, and long aging. The style is understated, elegant, and built for decades. A benchmark in global fine wine.
