About this wine

Sassicaia 2020 blends 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc from the stony slopes of Bolgheri. It offers dark fruits, oak spice, Mediterranean herbs and graphite, with a plush texture and soft, ripe tannins. Unlike cooler vintages, it is delicious young but still retains balance and freshness.

Tasting Note

Wine Advocate calls it beautiful and compelling straight away, with dark fruits, oak spice, freshness and rich texture, noting that it’s more immediately accessible than many Sassicaias.

In the glass

Deep, vivid ruby-purple.

In the nose

Blackcurrant, black cherry, Mediterranean herbs, cedar, graphite and sweet spice.

On the palate

Full and generous, with rich dark fruit, silky tannins, bright acidity and a long, savoury finish.

Tenuta San Guido

The birthplace of the Super Tuscan movement. Tenuta San Guido produces Sassicaia, one of Italy’s most important wines: Cabernet Sauvignon shaped by maritime breezes, gravelly soils, and long aging. The style is understated, elegant, and built for decades. A benchmark in global fine wine.
