About this wine

This is clearly the more ambitious of the two Barbera-based wines in the Sette range. Fruit from 75-year-old vines, spontaneous fermentation, long maceration, ageing in large barrels and amphora, and release only after extended cellar time.

Tasting Note

Boysenberry, plum, earthy-mineral notes and leesy barrel complexity, with firm tannins and ripe acidity.

In the glass

Deep ruby-purple.

In the nose

Boysenberry, plum, earthy mineral notes and some barrel complexity.

On the palate

Taut and textured, with ripe acidity, firm tannins and a long dry finish.

Sette

Sette is a Piedmont project dedicated to Barbera from Nizza DOCG, centred on a 5.5–5.8 hectare vineyard in Nizza Monferrato. Founded by a small team with roots in winegrowing, winemaking and the wine trade, the estate works organically and biodynamically to show Barbera as a serious terroir wine. The style is vivid and structured, with dark fruit, spice and acidity giving the wines both energy and depth.
