About this wine

Produced as a varietal since 1956, Winkl is Terlan’s benchmark Sauvignon Blanc from some of the oldest vineyards in the DOC. The 2024 vintage shows straw-yellow colour and an expressive bouquet of apricot, mandarin, elderflower, gooseberry and mint, with a hint of crushed rock. On the palate it is juicy and fresh with fine acidity, good structure and a long, mineral, elegant finish. It’s a highly versatile white that works both as an aperitif and at the table with seafood, salads and vegetable dishes.

Tasting Note

Guides describe Winkl 2024 as smelling of lime, mandarins, mint and apricot with a touch of crushed rock, and tasting full of character with a fine “acid wire,” good concentration and a long, flavourful, mineral finish.

In the glass

Straw yellow with greenish highlights.

In the nose

Apricot, mandarin, elderflower, gooseberry, mint and a hint of crushed stone.

On the palate

Succulent and crisp, with juicy citrus and stone fruit, fine acidity and a persistent, mineral, slightly herbal finish.

Kellerei Terlan

Cantina Terlano is a renowned cooperative in Alto Adige, famous for age-worthy, mineral whites from steep, Alpine vineyards. Wines like Vorberg, Monticol and Terlaner blends combine ripe fruit with cutting acidity and a distinct smoky, saline note. The cellar’s library tastings have proved these whites can evolve beautifully for decades.
