About this wine

Vernatsch Turmhof is sourced from warm, well-ventilated slopes around Kurtatsch, planted to the traditional Vernatsch (Schiava) variety on light, gravelly soils. The wine is made with gentle extraction in stainless steel and/or concrete, followed by maturation in large old oak casks to round the edges while preserving freshness. The 2023 shows the textbook pale colour, fragrant red-berry profile and silky texture that make Vernatsch such a versatile Alpine red, with critics and merchants praising its digestibility and charm.

Tasting Note

Light ruby with aromas of red cherry, raspberry and strawberry, accented by violets and a faint bitter-almond nuance. The palate is light-bodied and juicy, with soft tannins, bright acidity and a delicately savoury, refreshing finish.

In the glass

Very pale ruby, almost translucent, with a bright rim.

In the nose

Fresh wild strawberries, red cherry, violets, a hint of spice and bitter almond.

On the palate

Slender and silky, with crunchy red-berry fruit, low but present tannins, lively acidity and a clean, slightly savoury finish.

Tiefenbrunner

Tiefenbrunner is a historic Alto Adige estate combining Alpine precision with polished, modern winemaking. From crisp Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon to structured Cabernet and the iconic Feldmarschall Müller-Thurgau, the wines are defined by purity, freshness and altitude-driven tension. The style is elegant and gastronomic, showcasing Alto Adige’s unique cool-climate character.
