About this wine

Sourced mainly from old Mencía vines in and around Valtuille de Abajo, Quite is designed as the most approachable expression of Verónica’s elegant Bierzo style. The 2023 vintage was fermented with indigenous yeasts and given a gentle élevage of around eight months in used French oak, preserving bright fruit and fine tannins. The wine offers a lovely mix of red and blue berries, violets and peppery spice, underpinned by the cool, stony character of Bierzo’s soils. It’s a perfect introduction to her range, equally at home slightly chilled with charcuterie or at table with roast poultry.

Tasting Note

Luis Gutiérrez (WA) describes Quite 2023 as a particularly expressive and refined vintage, bursting with red and blue fruit, flowers and a subtle leafy note, with silky tannins and a balance that punches above its price.

Crushed raspberries, blueberries, violets and a touch of white pepper and wild herbs.

Juicy and medium-bodied, with fresh berry fruit, fine sandy tannins and a lively, mineral, mouth-watering finish.

Verónica Ortega

Verónica Ortega, who trained with the likes of Comte Armand, Raúl Pérez and Alvaro Palacios, crafts some of Bierzo’s most refined Mencía-based wines. She focuses on old vines, often on slate and clay, and vinifies with whole clusters, neutral oak and low intervention. The wines are perfumed, spicy and mineral, with a Burgundian sense of delicacy.
