About this wine

Brunate is one of La Morra’s greatest crus, and Roberto Voerzio’s 2015 bottling is a benchmark in richly textured, ultra-refined Barolo. The wine shows soaring aromatics of dark cherry, roses, sweet herbs and exotic spice, underpinned by subtle new-oak notes. The palate is dense but weightless, with layers of red and black fruits, licorice and mineral salts wrapped in ultra-fine tannins. Despite its hedonistic appeal, the structure and balance promise decades of positive evolution.

Tasting Note

Critics describe a wine of enormous richness and concentration, yet with remarkable balance, combining sweet, ripe cherry fruit, florals and spice with polished tannins and a very long, nuanced finish.

In the glass

Deep garnet-ruby, just starting to show a lighter rim.

In the nose

Dark cherry and plum, rose petal, sweet herbs, sandalwood and licorice.

On the palate

Rich, layered red and black fruits, spice and mineral notes with very fine, silky but powerful tannins.

Roberto Voerzio

Roberto Voerzio is one of the most revered winemakers of Italy’s Piedmont region, and a defining figure for the appellation of Barolo. Born in 1952 in the village of La Morra, in the Langhe hills, he grew up among vineyards and cellars as his family had been working the land for generations.
