About this wine

La Serra sits at higher altitude above La Morra, giving Barolo of lifted aromatics and taut structure. Voerzio’s 2015 La Serra layers red plum and cherry fruit with windswept flowers, salts and subtle spice, all supported by firm but ultra-fine tannins. The wine feels simultaneously powerful and weightless, with an almost Burgundian sense of detail and length. In this warm, generous vintage it is particularly seductive, yet it has the backbone to age for decades.

In the glass

Medium-deep garnet with a bright core.

In the nose

Red plum, cherry, rose, violets and mineral/saline notes with subtle oak spice.

On the palate

Sleek, high-toned red fruit, fine acidity and very refined, persistent tannins.

Roberto Voerzio

Roberto Voerzio is one of the most revered winemakers of Italy’s Piedmont region, and a defining figure for the appellation of Barolo. Born in 1952 in the village of La Morra, in the Langhe hills, he grew up among vineyards and cellars as his family had been working the land for generations.
