About this wine

Unlike the classic dense PX style, PX Delicado captures the grape before it fully turns to raisins. Grapes are hand-picked and only gently sun-dried before being fermented in French oak with airtight closures, achieving natural sweetness at a moderate 13% abv. The 2024 shows amber colour and aromas of golden raisins, orange peel, blossom and gentle spice. On the palate it is sweet but comparatively light-footed, with bright acidity and a long, clean, grapey finish – ideal with fruit tarts, not-too-sweet desserts or simply chilled as a dessert in its own right.

Tasting Note

Producer notes emphasise the wine’s pure, fresh PX character: vibrant grape and raisin fruit, floral and citrus notes, and a surprisingly lifted, refreshing palate despite its sweetness.

In the glass

Bright amber-gold with slow tears.

In the nose

Golden raisins, grape must, orange zest, white flowers and gentle baking spice.

On the palate

Lusciously sweet but agile, with pure raisined fruit, lively acidity and a long, clean, grapey finish without heaviness.

Ximénez-Spínola

Ximénez-Spínola is a singular, tiny bodega in Jerez that works almost exclusively with Pedro Ximénez. They produce everything from unfortified dry whites to complex, long-aged PX sherries and brandies, all in very small quantities. The style is artisanal and luxurious, with deep raisined fruit, spice and balanced sweetness lifted by freshness and long oxidative complexity.
