About this wine

This cuvée blends PX from the 1918 solera with a 1964 PX Oloroso, both from Ximénez-Spínola’s own vineyards, creating a medium-sweet sherry that is unlike most commercial “Medium” styles. Fermented and aged oxidatively in Jerez, it is bottled at 17% abv and offers great nuance without overt heaviness. Expect aromas of nuts, dried fruits, caramel and citrus peel, with a palate that balances deep sweetness, tangy acidity and savoury, oxidative complexity. It’s equally suited to contemplative sipping or pairing with foie gras, blue cheeses and nut-based desserts.

Tasting Note

Falstaff praises Old Harvest for its power and elegance, while Jamie Goode highlights its fine, expressive, off-dry balance, with intense raisin and nut character and a very long finish.

In the glass

Deep mahogany-amber.

In the nose

Raisin, fig and date, roasted nuts, toffee, orange peel and hints of coffee and polished wood.

On the palate

Rich and velvety but not heavy, with layered dried fruits and nuts, balanced by tangy acidity and a long, bittersweet, oxidative finish.

Ximénez-Spínola

Ximénez-Spínola is a singular, tiny bodega in Jerez that works almost exclusively with Pedro Ximénez. They produce everything from unfortified dry whites to complex, long-aged PX sherries and brandies, all in very small quantities. The style is artisanal and luxurious, with deep raisined fruit, spice and balanced sweetness lifted by freshness and long oxidative complexity.
