About this wine

Château d’Yquem sits alone at the top of the 1855 Sauternes classification and is crafted through multiple meticulous passes in the vineyard, picking individual botrytised berries. The 1997 vintage produced a rich, flamboyant wine packed with mango, pineapple, crème brûlée and saffron notes, wrapped around a core of searing acidity. Long ageing in mostly new French oak adds layers of toast, vanilla and spice without overwhelming the botrytis complexity. It’s a benchmark Yquem that is glorious now but will continue to evolve for decades.
